Recently, Xiamen Innovax Biotech Co., Ltd. (IX) announced that Cecolin 9, its independently developed 9-valent HPV vaccine, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, Thailand (Thai FDA). This approval not only establishes a solid foundation for IX’s expansion in Thailand but also represents a significant step in advancing its long-term growth strategy across Southeast Asia.
Cecolin 9 covers HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58, and is used for the prevention of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. The approval further expands HPV vaccination options in Thailand and provides a new high-quality option for local cervical cancer prevention and control.
Cervical cancer remains an important public health challenge for women in Thailand. Based on 2023 data from the HPV Information Centre (IARC/WHO), Thailand has an estimated 9,158 new cervical cancer cases and 4,705 related deaths each year, equivalent to approximately one new cervical cancer case every hour and one woman dying from the disease every two hours.1
IX will continue to work with local partners to support market access and reliable supply, helping advance the long-term public health goal of cervical cancer elimination. Following Cecolin 9’s approval in China in 2025, Thailand has become the first overseas market to approve the vaccine, marking a significant milestone in IX’s global expansion of its HPV vaccine portfolio. Building on the international achievements of its bivalent HPV vaccine, IX is developing a global HPV vaccine network spanning bivalent and 9-valent products, as well as public health procurement and commercial markets, further strengthening its brand presence and competitiveness internationally.
About Cecolin 9
Launched in China in 2025, Cecolin 9 is a next-generation 9-valent HPV vaccine jointly developed by IX and Xiamen University. Building on the global use of Cecolin, the bivalent HPV vaccine, Cecolin 9 further expands coverage across nine HPV types associated with cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Supported by large-scale clinical studies, Cecolin 9 has demonstrated broad HPV type coverage, protective efficacy, a favorable safety profile, and non-inferior immunogenicity compared with an internationally licensed 9-valent HPV vaccine. With independent IP protection covering all nine HPV types, Cecolin 9 further expands IX’s HPV vaccine portfolio and provides a new high-quality option for cervical cancer prevention and control.
