On June 5, 2026, a delegation led by Professor Lo Chung-mau, Secretary for Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, visited Xiamen Bio Bay and Xiamen Innovax Biotech Co., Ltd. (IX), accompanied by representatives from the Fujian Provincial Health Commission. The visit focused on biomedical innovation, vaccine R&D translation, clinical research collaboration, and international development.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Xiamen Bio Bay exhibition hall to learn about the development of Xiamen's biomedical industry, park layout, public service platforms, industry-university-research-medical collaboration mechanisms, and representative enterprises and products.
The delegation then visited IX, where they toured the company's exhibition hall and learned about its development history, technology platforms, innovation achievements, and international product expansion. IX highlighted its innovative vaccine portfolio, including the hepatitis E vaccine, HPV Bivalent vaccine Cecolin, and HPV 9-valent vaccine Cecolin 9, as well as its progress in vaccine R&D, clinical research, industrial translation, international registration, and global public health collaboration.
During the exchange, IX shared how it leverages Xiamen's biomedical industry ecosystem, public service platforms, and industry-university-research-medical collaboration mechanisms to more effectively connect original biomedical innovations across the full chain of R&D, clinical trials, technology translation, market application, and international development. The two sides also exchanged views on vaccine innovation, clinical research collaboration, support mechanisms for technology translation, and public health cooperation.
The visit further strengthened exchanges among the Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Fujian Provincial Health Commission, and IX, and provided a valuable platform for communication between Fujian and Hong Kong in biomedical innovation, clinical research collaboration, and public health cooperation. Leveraging Xiamen's biomedical industry ecosystem and Hong Kong's strengths in healthcare, clinical research, and international connectivity, IX will continue to explore new pathways for the translation and international collaboration of innovative, high-quality vaccines.
