Cecolin 9, a novel 9-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine jointly developed by Xiamen Innovax Biotech Co., Ltd. (“IX”) and Xiamen University, has launched in Thailand, offering a new option for cervical cancer prevention. Following its approval in China in 2025, Cecolin 9 received regulatory approval from the Thai Food and Drug Administration in 2026, making Thailand the first country outside China to approve the vaccine.
The 41st Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RTCOG 2026) was held in Pattaya from October 27 to 30, 2026. During the conference, IX’s local partner, Global Biotech Products Co., Ltd. (GBP), formally announced the launch of Cecolin 9 to Thailand’s medical community. Through discussions at its exhibition booth and a dedicated scientific symposium, GBP shared clinical evidence for the vaccine and engaged healthcare professionals in scientific dialogue on HPV prevention and cervical cancer control.
On October 29, GBP hosted a scientific symposium titled “The Next Era of HPV Prevention: Expanding Protection with 9-Valent HPV Vaccination — From Scientific Evidence to Clinical Confidence.” The session featured Prof. Dr. Wichai Termrungruanglert, Vice President of RTCOG and a gynecologic oncologist at Chulalongkorn University, as moderator and speaker, and Associate Professor (Honorary) Tawee Chotpitayasunondh, M.D., a pediatric infectious disease specialist, as speaker. The speakers shared insights into HPV epidemiology, cervical cancer prevention and clinical evidence for Cecolin 9, fostering scientific dialogue on evidence-based HPV prevention in Thailand.
The partnership between IX and GBP has continued to evolve. Since 2023, the partners have supported Thailand’s National Immunization Program through the supply of Cecolin, IX’s bivalent HPV vaccine. Building on this foundation, their collaboration has expanded to Cecolin 9, encompassing finished vaccine supply, technology transfer and local manufacturing capacity building. The launch of Cecolin 9 in Thailand marks another milestone in this long-standing partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to aligning vaccine innovation with local public health needs.
According to estimates from the HPV Information Centre, Thailand records approximately 9,158 new cervical cancer cases and 4,705 related deaths annually[1], underscoring the continued need for accessible HPV vaccination and evidence-based prevention. IX will continue to work with GBP and local public health partners to address Thailand’s cervical cancer prevention needs through reliable vaccine supply, scientific exchange and local capacity building, translating China-developed vaccine innovation into meaningful benefits for women’s health.
